* Learning to innovate and knowledge creation via brokerage in distributed agile project methods in development teams in creative industries :. network theory ('small world') patterns in innovation brokerage :. economics of innovation: NIS area studies, focusing on 'skill webs' and skill development in emerging learning economies (with area studies depth in South Korea, Iran & GCC).

* Innovation 'DEAL' model (Design, Execute, Adjust and Learn cycle); ICT enabled design of innovative user-centric multi-channel services :. managing innovation and entrepreneurship in practice, in techno-economic / SST systems :. learning in, and policies of 'smart cities'.

Current broad research theme on 'learning to innovate in a transitional context' with digital technologies in close collaboration with David Guile as part of the LLAKES Centre (Strand 2 - Project 1 research http://www.ioe.ac.uk/research/27062.html).
