Senior Research Fellow

About

I am a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Education, University of London, and Deputy Director of MODE: Multimodal Methodologies for Researching Digital Data and Environmens, a node of the National Centre for Research Methods.

My research, teaching and consultancy deal with ethnography, learning and communication. I draw my theoretical and analytical frameworks from sociology, semiotics and interaction analysis. I have done fieldwork in schools and hospitals in the UK and the Netherlands.

I studied at Tilburg University, Netherlands (MA, 1999; PhD, 2003) before settling in London where I have worked at Imperial College London, King’s College London and the Institute of Education.
